Foxtrot market has announced a limited-edition partnership and product collection with American rock band, Wilco, in honor of the 20th anniversary of the band’s album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Foxtrot and Wilco pay homage to the album and the city they both love through this collaboration featuring a market pop-up experience, nostalgic snacks, craft beer and custom merchandise, all inspired by Wilco and available exclusively at Foxtrot.
“Chicago is a special place, full of neighborhoods and communities that create a real sense of belonging unlike anywhere else I’ve ever been. Foxtrot embraces this sense of community and we’re excited to partner with them as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of our album in this great city,” said Jeff Tweedy.
To celebrate the album, Foxtrot created a limited-edition assortment of merchandise and snacks, including: Wilc-O’s Cinnamon Cereal made in partnership with plant-based cereal brand, Off Limits, Jesus Don’t Cry Pilsner made with local Chicago brewery, Great Central Brewing and a custom I Am Trying To Eat Your Heart Gummy Mix, a new edition of Foxtrot’s gummies. Foxtrot is also releasing custom merch inspired by the album, including: t-shirts, hats, jackets, baggu shopper totes, lighters and more.
In addition to the product collection, the partnership comes to life through the “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Market”: a limited-time, pop-up shop at Foxtrot’s Old Town store in Chicago. The store transforms overnight into a “market within a market” - where poster art meets local supermarket, all wrapped up in puns and plays on Wilco lyrics that embodies their sense of humor. The space is decked out as if the band is running the shop, complete with custom posters, vinyls and displays featuring the exclusive snacks, drinks and merchandise available to purchase. A few lucky fans also have a chance to win signed, 7-inch vinyls hidden inside select boxes of Wilco-O’s Cereal. The “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Market” is open from April 19th - May 1st at the Old Town Foxtrot location (1562 North Wells Street).
The custom illustrations for the Wilc-O’s cereal, Jesus Don’t Cry Pilsner, Gummy Mix and the merchandise was designed in partnership between Foxtrot’s in-house creative team and Chicago-based artist, Louie Capozzoli. The “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Market” installation was brought to life by local Chicago production firm, Pendulum Creative.
“I fell in love with Wilco listening to their live sets in college, and chasing them around venues all over Chicago, so to have the opportunity to partner with the band in celebration of their iconic album is really special,” said Mike LaVitola, co-founder and CEO of Foxtrot. “We both call Chicago home, and have a lot of love for the community here. Beyond that, this is really about celebrating food and culture, and creating something fun and unexpected.”
The celebration continues with a ticketed “Pre-Show” at The Hideout, one of Chicago’s independent music venues, on April 21st. To kick off the weekend, Wilco hand-selected a few of their favorite Chicago bands to play, including Dehd and Tenci. Attendees can exclusively enjoy samples of the Jesus Don’t Cry Pilsner and purchase the merchandise at the event. Tickets are $30 and available to purchase here.
The Wilco x Foxtrot product collection will be sold only at Foxtrot’s Old Town location and online for nationwide shipping via Foxtrot Anywhere. As a treat for hometown fans, the Jesus Don’t Cry Pilsner will exclusively be available at Foxtrot’s Chicago Old Town store. The pop-up will continue from April 19th - May 1st, allowing shoppers to walk through the mini-market with dedicated aisles and fridges housing all goodies from the collaboration.
