With National Ice Cream Day quickly approaching (July 18) and the hottest summer days upon us - Chicagoans always appreciate a sweet treat to help us cool down as we experience the sunniest days the city can offer.

The Original Rainbow Cone

Opened in 1926, the five-flavor Rainbow Cone featurs orange sherbet, pistachio, palmer house, strawberry and chocolate ice cream sliced (not scooped) into a cone or cup. Guests visiting one of their four locations (Beverly, Lombard, Darien and Navy Pier) can also find creamy flavors and treats including milkshakes, sundaes, rolls and cakes. This summer, Rainbow Cone also launched a fleet of ice cream trucks that offer The Original Rainbow Cone’s cones throughout Chicagoland. To find a truck nearest you, visit their truck finder online, or order Nationwide via Goldbelly.

Stan’s Donuts & Coffee

Guests looking to cool off can also order a milkshake at Stan’s this summer, with limited-time seasonal offerings like their Firecraker Shake to other items including Cherry Chocolate, Nutella, Oreo, PB&J, Biscoff, Lavender Coconut and many more.

El Che Steakhouse & Bar

End your South American dining experience with scoops of local FRÍO Argentine Gelato. Available flavors include coconut, yerba ade, chocolate, dulce de leche and a seasonal flavor. You can even add a scoop to one of the restaurant’s classics, guava or chocolate alfajores, if you like a bit of crunch with your gelato.
