Scratchboard Kitchen Hosts "A Recipe For Empowerment: Women in Culinary Driving Change", March 27
Kicking off this March in recognition of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, Executive Chef Grace Goudie of Scratchboard Kitchen in Arlington Heights is launching a new collaboration series “A Recipe for Empowerment: Women in Culinary Driving Change.” Chef Grace will partner with other local female hospitality industry workers to host monthly pop-up dinners at Scratchboard Kitchen, and a portion of proceeds will benefit a different charity each month selected by and important to the featured guest.
The monthly restaurant collaboration will put a spotlight on some of Chicago’s hard working female chefs, pastry chefs, mixologists, sommeliers and more as they come together over a shared passion for the food business. In addition to curating a special menu with Chef Grace, the featured guest will have the opportunity to host patrons at Scratchboard Kitchen, bringing a taste of the city to the suburbs.
With more and more women working towards leadership roles in the kitchen, Chef Grace wanted to connect and collaborate with other females in Chicago’s culinary scene and highlight their talents while creating a memorable dining experience. The goal is to provide a platform for female figures in the Chicagoland hospitality industry to come together and learn from each other while also helping the community.
For the first dinner on Saturday, March 27, Chef Grace has partnered with Lindsey Anderson Perez, Owner and Sommelier of Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood. Lindsey will expertly pair wines featuring all women wine makers with a four-course dinner created by Chef Grace. A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit Uvae’s charity of choice, The Night Ministry.
The dinner is $75 per person and wine pairings are an additional $35. The menu is strongly influenced by Chef Grace’s experience in California learning to cook from the bounties of the land mixed with her central European heritage. After losing both of her grandparents this past fall, to whom she was very close with, she realized the cuisine they taught her growing up was why she truly loves to cook (and eat). This menu is a love letter from Chef Grace to her grandparents and upbringing.
