Chicago-based Upton’s Naturals is merging its factory café, Upton’s Breakroom, with its donut shop, Liberation Donuts, to create Liberation Kitchen. The restaurant features scratch-made vegan comfort food, including longtime options like Fried Bacon Mac and Chicago Style Updogs, plus a new dessert menu with gourmet donuts and an expanded selection of dairy-free ice cream options. Another addition will be menu items from local businesses, thanks to a partnership program aimed at helping new, vegan brands grow by opening its production space in West Town and featuring their products on the Liberation Kitchen menu. Vegan sushi brand Snackie Chan will pilot the program by selling grab and go sushi options, as well as pre-ordered hot items like bao and wontons for the entire month of September.
Located at 2054 W. Grand Ave, Liberation Kitchen is open daily from 11am-7:30pm. Friday through Sunday, doors open at 9am for donuts and drinks, with the full menu available starting at 11am.
