Travelle at The Langham partners with Green City Market – Chicago’s first year-round, sustainable farmers market and nonprofit – for a virtual event on Thursday, October 22 at 4 p.m. CST.
Travelle Chef de Cuisine Jeff Vucko joins Green City Market Chef Educator Lisa Kalabokis for an online conversation about seasonality, sustainability, and zero waste practices via Instagram Live. In addition to shopping the sustainable farmers market regularly and building strong partnerships with the farmers and purveyors, he has spearheaded many partnerships and collaborations with the nonprofit, including Green City Market’s Come to the Table dinner series.
Chef Educator Lisa Kalabokis loves to cook with local, sustainable foods. Her passion for cooking began at a young age spending time in the kitchen with her grandparents, who taught her techniques they brought with them from Sicily. Prior to her time with Green City Market, her career includes her role as a butcher at Butcher & Larder to educating children at the Chopping Block. Her passion for sustainable, ethically-sourced food has rewarded her with close relationships with several local farmers and purveyors — ones that she’s carried with her throughout her various roles.
Over the course of the seasonality-focused conversation, Chef Vucko will discuss Travelle’s new fall menu and showcase ways to use seasonal produce currently available. Kalabokis will share information on GCM Delivered, Green City Market’s new online ordering platform offering home delivery, curbside pick-up, and grab-and-go pick-up at their markets.
