It's Tomatina time at Jaleo Chicago. Each year on the last Wednesday of August, the city of Buñol is transformed into the site of Spain's food fight - La Tomatina. At Jaleo, they prefer to use them in specialty tapas and cocktails. 

From today till September 08, 2024, Jaleo will be serving special tapas, each featuring preparations of the season's produce. Options include: 

  • Gazpacho spheres: Cucumber, tomato, extra virgin olive oil  

  • Fried heirloom tomato: Tempura, saffron aioli  

  • Tomatoes and quail eggs: Heirloom tomato, sunnyside quail egg, and Mama Marisa blue cheese 

  • Crab Salad: Blue crab, heirloom tomatoes, black garlic  

  • Bacalao a la Vizcaina: Fried cod, Basque-style tomato sauce

  • Iberico spare rib: Braised boneless Iberico spare rib, tomato confit, fried yu kon potato 

  • Sponge cake: Olive oil sponge cake, tomato sorbet, yogurt foam
