On Wednesday, October 11 at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, fifteen of Chicago’s top cocktail bars competed in Yelp’s Cocktail of Chicago Competition, and The Walk-In walked out on a high note, taking home first place with “The Get Down”. Over 1000 people attended the event and voted for their favorite cocktail from the following locations: The Bar & Table at CH Distillery, Baptiste & Bottle, Brando's Speakeasy, Broken Shaker, Freehand Chicago, Joy District, Larry's, Le Bar, Nacional 27, Primehouse, Polk Street Pub, Remedy, Roanoke Restaurant, Son of A Butcher by Whisk, and last but not least, The Walk-In. “The Get Down” from The Walk-In is a lovely sipper of fresh pineapple and lime juice, Plantation Pineapple rum, and Drambuie garnished with fresh mint and topped with Angostura bitters. The drink was created by General Manger and Beverage Director of The Walk-In, Phillip Smith. “The Get Down” will now be featured as “The Cocktail of Chicago” on the menu of all the bars that competed in the event, and of course it's still a mainstay at The Walk-In in Logan Square.
