Drinking glühwein out of mugs at the Christkindlmarket was an annual holiday tradition for thousands of Chicagoans, but has sadly moved to a strictly virtual market this year due to the pandemic. Thus, one neighborhood wine bar is looking to (safely) save that experience and spread a little holiday cheer in the West Loop... The Press Room has announced its first annual Christmas market: Miracle on Washington St.

The Miracle on Washington St. holiday market will launch on Saturday, Nov. 28, and open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the month of December, offering a holiday market experience with a variety of local vendors and goods for your one-stop-shop for gifts. In addition to the market, the seasonal menu by Chef Jeff Williams will feature items traditionally available at the Christkindlmarket, including raclette grilled cheese, schnitzel sandwiches, house made bratwurst and sauerkraut, sourdough pretzels, potato pancakes and nutella waffles. For imbibing, the beverage menu features hot glühwein, spiked cider, Irish coffee, old fashioned, wine pours by the glass and more.

The market will include a array of hand-crafted ornaments, German steins, candles from Edgewater Candles and Italian holiday ceramics, plus The Press Room will offer their curated wine selection for purchase, plus pasta kits, house-made loaves of bread, cocktails to go, candied nuts, sweets and more.

Guests must purchase tickets for entry via TOCK for 90-minute increments to shop the market and allow for proper social distancing and capacity limits. Tickets include entry to the market, a holiday cocktail — both spirited and non-alcoholic available — and a patio table reservation for the special market menu and additional beverages.

In addition to the holiday market, The Press Room’s market menu will be available for takeout and delivery via TOCK. The Press Room is located at 1134 W. Washington Blvd. in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, steps away from Randolph Row.
