The Portage, sister restaurant of recently opened Community Tavern, is proud to be celebrating five years of business in the Portage Park community. In honor of the milestone, the restaurant is hosting a series of fun events and specials as a way to thank its loyal customers and friends. This 5-day celebration will last from Tuesday, June 16th through Saturday, June 20th, 2015.
To kick things off on Tuesday, June 16th and Wednesday, June 17th, Chef Joey Beatowill prepare an exclusive 5-course prix fixe dinner filled with signature items from over the years. These beloved old favorites will be available for one night only, and there will be two seatings at 6pm and 8pm. Dishes include Bacon-Wrapped Dates, Roasted Red Beet Salad, Candied CDK Beef Short Rib, Buttermilk Amish Fried Chicken, and Chocolate Pretzel Bread Pudding. As a special treat, mixologist Kaitlin Carrow has prepared signature cocktail pairings including The Watermelon Cooler, The Georgia Peach and more. Kat Morelos will make a special guest appearance at Tuesday’s dinner, and Neil O’Mara will make a special guest appearance at Wednesday’s dinner. The prix fixe dinner includes cocktail pairings and is $55 per person.
Weeklong drink specials will include $5 oak aged libations, including a house-made oak-aged negroni, select red and white wines,and a barrel-aged beer. These will be available to signify the traditional 5-year anniversary gift of wood. In addition to food and drink specials, The Portage will hold two raffles on Friday, June 19th and Saturday, June 20that 5:55pm with special prizes from The Portage, Community Tavern, and other local businesses.
