The Goddess and Grocer, a gourmet café, market and full-service catering kitchen, announces the upcoming opening of their new Gold Coast store at 845 N. State Street, slated to open February 20.
“We are so excited to bring The Goddess back, very near to its original Gold Coast location. Old customers have been popping in or waving through the windows to welcome us back and cannot wait for us to reopen. This space is so much bigger than our old State Street store, so we have lots of seating and a larger menu,” said owner Debbie Sharpe.
Guests can look forward to a café-style seating area with an all-day menu, a wood-fired oven, coffee drinks, pastries baked in house daily, grab and go selections, and global wines and spirits. Counter seating facing the oven will offer a vantage point and gathering spot, and a wine-friendly menu will put the woodfire to work. In addition to new dining options, the store will showcase a new home wares section featuring candles from Paris, Jonathan Adler trinket boxes and jewelry dishes, glassware from Savant, vintage silver cutlery, and gifts and greeting cards, and plenty of finds for foodies and those looking for special gifts.
The Café menu offers wines by the glass, and dishes such as:
Roasted Baby Beets and Burrata with glazed carrots and rosemary vinaigrette Citrus Tartine with stracciatella, ruby red grapefruit, buckwheat honey, mint, and nigella seeds
Wild Mushroom and Gruyère Tartine with caramelized onions, black garlic butter, and chives
Mediterranean Chicken Thighs with feta, red pepper, fennel, fingerling potatoes, marinated olives, preserved lemon, and green tahini sauce
Roasted Cauliflower Steak with harissa, whipped white bean hummus, olive salsa, and sumac
PATIO AND SIDEWALK CAFÉ
During warmer months, the new location will feature a large, dog-friendly patio seating up to 60 guests on both State and Chestnut Streets. The patio will be adorned with lush greenery and offer a mix of tables and lounge seating
CATERING
A full-service catering menu will be available for corporate business functions, celebrations, and holidays.
THE DESIGN
The Goddess and Grocer Gold Coast will feature the brand’s updated aesthetic, with a contemporary, design created by designer Siren Betty Design. Siren Betty Design is a WBE-certified, woman-owned interior design firm based in Chicago with clients around the country; and a project partner for the woman-owned and led Goddess and Grocer team. Design highlights include black and white banquette seating and walls, and a light fixture by Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue, capturing an aerialist swinging from a chandelier, which will greet guests from above.
