Chicago River Tradition
This St. Patrick’s Day, celebrate the Irish atRaised Bar, 1 W. Wacker Drive. Raised will be offering an authentic Irish food and drink package, with the annual dyeing of the Chicago River as the backdrop to the morning festivities. Raised kicks off the St. Patrick’s Day festivities with an Irish breakfast from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Sat., Mar. 17. Guests will be immersed in all things Irish with a live bagpipe performance and a food and drink package that includes: green beer on tap; endless green mimosas; Bloody Marys; baked eggs with spinach and kale pesto; corned beef and kraut on rye; Kerrygold white cheddar scone sliders, rashers, and eggs; and bourbon caramel cinnamon rolls. Guests can also make their way down to the lobby level Staytion Market & Barfor a DJ mixing beats from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., along with a selection of a la carte menu items being offered throughout the day, including Guinness, Jameson, Not Safe for Work Irish coffee and Corned Beef Hash, Braised Lamb Sliders, Irish stew and more. State and Lake Chicago Tavern, 201 N State St., is joining in on the Chicago St. Patrick’s Day fun with food and drink specials on Sat., Mar. 17. Located just one block away from the Chicago River for the green dyeing activities, Chicago visitors and locals alike can start their celebrations early with drink specials beginning at 8 a.m. These specials include Green Bud Light Can ($4), Jameson Shot ($5), and Guinness Can ($6). Starting at 11 a.m., those looking to grab a bite to eat as well can take advantage of a variety of delicious food items provided by Chef Nathan Sears, Executive Chef of SLCT. These items include the Tavern Reuben with house made corned beef, sauerkraut, swiss, 1000 island dressing, and rye ($9) and Lamb and Guinness Stew with braised lamb, potatoes, carrots, and barley ($12).
Weekend-Long Irish Festival
Willowbrook’s charming Irish oasis, The Kerry Piper, is hosting its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration with three days packed with lucky fun inside the restaurant and outdoors under a massive party tent for extended hours Fri., Mar. 16 through Sun., Mar. 18, 2018. Weekend festivities include a St. Baldrick’s head shaving event, special guest bartenders, several live bands and more.
