The Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and Old Town School of Folk Music are partnering together for the 10th annual Square Roots Festival. On July 8-10, the street festival in Lincoln Square will showcase dozens of bands, vendors, local restaurants, and a craft beer experience.
“There’s nothing quite like the music at Square Roots and we’re back live and in-person! This is a stellar and diverse lineup of acts across four stages,” said Dave Zibell, festival organizer and marketing director of the Old Town School of Folk Music.
Artists for the 2022 event feature alternative rocker Bob Mould, the sounds of Guided By Voices, the current indie sounds of Deep Sea Diver, rootsy singer-songwriter Hayes Carll, and Nashville singer-songwriter Lilly Hiatt. Additional acts include singer and storyteller Ephraim Bugumba from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the harmonies from Minneapolis brother duo The Cactus Blossoms, the vintage soul sound for a new era of The O’My’s, and Indika Reggae. The stages will be rounded out with talent from far and wide including Hannah Mayree, ÉSSO, Quique Escamilla, The Altons, Los Gallos, Jarochicanos. Plus, Wiggleworms in the Kids Zone and performances from Old Town School faculty, students & friends throughout the weekend.
“Great music pairs perfectly with great beer and we have another stellar lineup of craft brews at Square Roots this year,” said Rudy Flores, festival organizer and executive director of the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. “Our craft beer taps are anchored by our amazing partners Half Acre Beer Company. Plus, amazing brews from Dovetail Brewery, Begyle Brewing and, new this year to our festival, Brewer’s Kitchen by Pilot Project.” “Tickets purchased at Square Roots let you taste more than two dozen craft beer styles, so you can explore the great craft beer scene in Chicago all in one spot.”
Suggested gate donation is $10 per person and $20 per family and all proceeds from sponsorships, ticket purchases, and gate donations at Square Roots benefit small business workshops and community place-making efforts through Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and fund Old Town School of Folk Music scholarship programs and free community programming.
