Former Chicago Bear and TV personality, Anthony “Spice” Adams, is hosting a Sweet Speakeasy at Untitled in River North next week to officially introduce the newest sweet treat to Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins’s menu – an Affogato, a classic Italian dessert that features a scoop of vanilla ice cream covered in a warm shot of espresso. The poured espresso is where this dessert gets its name since “affogato” by definition means “drown” in Italian.
Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins are partnering with Spice to bring the Italian delicacy to the Windy City ahead of a free sampling day for consumers Monday, March 18 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.* at participating locations. After that, you can get this treat that will transport your taste buds to Italy at Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins combo stores nationwide for only $3.49.
Inside the invite-only event, sweet libations and lively interactive demonstrations with Spice and Dunkin’ chef Kelly German will introduce the latest sweet treat to hit Chicago. German has been a part of the Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins culinary team since 2012. As a Senior Research and Development Technologist, Kelly has developed more than 300 ice cream flavors for Baskin-Robbins and works on flavor innovation, coffee and tea for Dunkin’.
This new menu item is a simple combination of two brand favorites: Baskin-Robbins’ Ice Cream topped with Dunkin’s bold, smooth espresso, resulting in a rich palate-pleaser and perfect afternoon pick-me-up. Try a classic affogato with Vanilla ice cream, or customize with your favorite flavor. Guests will be encouraged to create their own take on the Affogato with Spice and Kelly for an opportunity to win a sweet prize.
