Pizza pros are coming together for a special crossover event at Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co. in celebration of the upcoming Pizza City Fest hosted by Steve Dolinsky this July. Robert’s will welcome Tony Gemignani, to the restaurant for a special book signing on Sunday, July 24th.
The event held from 6pm – 8pm will provide local Chicagoans an opportunity to meet Tony in person as he signs copies of his book, The Pizza Bible. The book signing will also launch a pizza collaboration between Tony and Robert’s Pizza founder, Robert Garvey, only available for a limited time.
“Pizza City Fest is going to be a memorable event for all of us,” says Robert Garvey, owner of Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co. “We’ve been looking forward to the festival for months and can’t wait to participate with fellow Chicago-based chefs and pizzaiolos.”
After grabbing a signed copy, guests can dig into Tony & Robert’s collaborative pizza. The Squash Blossom and Burrata Pizza ($28)features ricotta stuffed squash blossoms, burrata, prosciutto di parma, crushed red pepper, mozzarella, and shaved Parmigiana Reggiano. This pizza will exclusively be available at Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co. and only for a limited time and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity.
The Pizza Bible is a guide to making pizza, covering nine different regional styles – including standards like Neapolitan, Roman, and Chicago, as well as pizza sub-specialties like St. Louis and Californian.
“It’s been a lot of fun to partner up with Tony,” Robert shares. “He’s a talented chef and loves to get creative in the kitchen so being able to put our heads together and come up with something delicious and unique has been exciting.’
Chicago’s first pizza festival, Pizza City Fest is spearheaded by critic Steve Dolinsky spotlighting the pizza diversity throughout the Chicago region. The event brings together 39 of the region’s pizza makers (and one out-of-town guest) for two days of pizza making and appreciation, all in one location. Robert’s Pizza & Dough Co. will be served at Pizza City Fest on Saturday, July 23rd to VIP ticket holders and Robert Garvey will be demonstrating “How to Make Great Pizza at Home” during his special panel on Sunday, July 24th at 4pm.
