Renaissance Chicago Downtown will celebrate its 9th annual Global Day of Discovery on Thursday, May 18. Renaissance Chicago Downtown will collaborate with a group of local businesses and personalities. Each experience will help give travelers a glimpse into Chicago's neighborhoods.

Led by the hotel Navigator John Alcott, Renaissance Chicago Downtown Hotel will celebrate Global Day of Discovery with the following events:

  • Cake or Illusion? In partnership with Wicker Park's Alliance Bakery, serving pastries, desserts, custom cakes and espresso sippers, the hotel will display three food items for people to guess which item is actually a cake. Participants can enter to win an overnight stay with breakfast for two. Check it out from 3:30 - 6:30 PM.

  • Discover the Illusion. In the hotel’s lobby, local artwork and installations provided by Museum of Illusions Chicago. Lobby installations can be viewed from 11 AM - 8 PM. Exclusive to hotel guests, the Museum of Illusion Chicago is offering an admission discount through May 31.

  • Elevation Beverage Ritual at Staytion. A preview of summer punch recipes from House Mixologist Kevin Fahey. Plus,  beats of a local DJ. The punch ritual will begin at 5:15 PM.

  • Illusions at Raised. There will be an additional curated illusion installation located in the hallway leading to Raised | An Urban Rooftop Bar in partnership with Museum of Illusions Chicago. The illusion will remain in place for six weeks. Raised Bar will also create a signature cocktail inspired by the installation that will be available on the menu throughout the time the installation is available for viewing. For every signature cocktail ordered, Raised Bar will donate $1 to Chicago Miracle Network Charities.

  • Neighborhood Highlights. In partnership with Chicago Award Source, the first 100 guests at Raised will receive a cutting board to have custom engraved onsite. As a nod to the Pilsen neighborhood, Raised Bar will be serving a “Taste of Pilsen” with paleta cocktails and sopes.
