Red Fish, Bleu Fish, a neighborhood seafood restaurant, will open its doors at 5121 S Harper Ave. in Hyde Park before the end of the year. The menu includes seafood dishes from the Mediterranean to New Orleans and the Pacific Islands.
The space features a sizable bar offering tropical craft cocktails, and community and banquette seating amidst wavy-patterned nautical-themed wallpaper. Designed to be a local gathering place, there are plenty of TVs for sports, news and binge-worthy TV drama viewing.
The restaurant will be open daily for lunch and dinner and brunch (à la carte on Saturdays, buffet-style on Sundays). Featuring fresh seafood and peak-of-season ingredients, the menu offers a Build-Your-Own Seafood Boil (mix of seafood, seasonings, “add-ons” and spice level) and street food like Seafood Fried Rice & Lobster, Cheesy Cajun Lobster & Fries, and Big Mountain Loaded Lobster & Shrimp Burrito). Additional menu selections include: – Clam and Conch Chowder – Crab Cake Sliders – Ceviche, “Lighthouse” Seafood Tower, and Pie Mussels Pot – Crunchy Crab Salad (Cucumbers Daikon, Gala Apple, Tempura Flakes, Preserved Lemon Dressing and Unagi) – Baked Lobster Tail (Creamy White Corn Polenta, Red Wine and Gumbo Sauce) – Paella Red Fish Bleu Fish (Served with Mussels, Clams, Shrimps, Octopus and Calamari)
The menu also offers steak and poultry options, a variety of traditional pastas and flatbreads, salads including selections with Quinoa or Kale and Shaved Brussels Sprouts. The restaurant will also offer a kid’s menu. Happy Hour features $1 oysters, specially priced select apps and half-priced drinks.
The concept is from French-born Chicago restaurateur Jovanis Bourgoub (Porkchop restaurants). Red Fish, Bleu Fish accommodates seating for 200 including the bar area and al fresco dining during warmer months. The venue, which includes a separate banquet room, can accommodate groups of up to 400 guests.
