Porto, a new restaurant by Bonhomme Hospitality Group, invites guests to travel along their journey leading up to their summer 2019 opening via Instagram @PortoChicago. The journey will be a whirlwind shopping trip to find the products that will be the heart and soul of the seafood restaurant and wine bar inspired by the cuisine and ingredients of Portugal and northwest Spain’s Galicia. Join Managing Partner Daniel Alonso, Executive Chef Marcos Campos, Director of Culture Paloma Martínez and fellow partners the Hindo Brothers as they are currently in Spain and Portugal to further connect with the artisans, purveyors, fishermen and winery owners, who will play an important role in West Town’s Porto when it opens this summer.
There will be stops in Baiona and Ribeira -- the Galician cities Dani has considered his second homes since birth -- as well as Vigo, home of the largest fishing port in Europe. Visits to multiple wineries, Pazos (Galician Châteaux) and fishing villages throughout Rías Baixas are also on their itinerary: Corrubedo, Aguiño, Combarro, O Grove, Meaño, La Guardia and Cambado, amongst many more -- this is after all Dani and Paloma’s “backyard."
And of course there’s Porto, located on the Douro River and near some of Portugal’s best wineries. Port wine, one of the country’s biggest exports, is named after this ancient city—and so is the restaurant.
The journey has just begun…
Follow along on Instagram for their ten-day adventure and stay tuned for more exciting news of Porto, coming to Chicago this summer at 1600 W. Chicago Avenue.
