Cody’s Public House in West Lakeview will host a special Paw-Lympics in celebration of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics on Saturday, August 3. Chicagoans are invited to enter their dog and themself into the Cody's Dog Olympics featuring a lineup of events including Treat Toss, Pet Tricks and Hurdles. Cash prizes will be awarded to top finishers including $150 for Gold, $100 for Silver and $50 for Bronze. 

Guests also can drink their way around the world Cody’s style with a special Olympic Handshake Drink Menu. Available from Friday, July 26 through Sunday, August 11, the menu features several pairings for $10 to $12 each including a Chicago Handshake (Old Style and Malort), Halifax Handshake (Labatt Blue and Bear Claw Whiskey), Hamburg Handshake (Paulaner and Jagermeister), Jalisco Handshake (Modelo and Herradura tequila) and a Dublin Handshake (Guinness and Proper 12 Whiskey). 

Olympic Viewing and Themed Specials at The Graystone Tavern

In celebration of the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, The Graystone Tavern in Wrigleyville will broadcast the games while they feature a daily themed “French Fries Around the World” menu paired with a “Handshakes from Across the Globe” menu. 

Graystone’s “Fries Around the World” represent Olympic teams and will range in price from $7 to $10. Selections will include the following: 

  • American Fries: fries with bacon, cheese sauce, sour cream and green onions
  • German Fries: fries and Bavarian seasoning served with spicy brown sugar mustard
  • Irish Fries: fries with corned beef and sauerkraut served with Thousand Island
  • Mexican Fries: fries with taco seasoning, queso blanco and jalapenos
  • Canadian Fries: fries with cheese curds and brown gravy
  • Italian Fries: fries with garlic parmesan served with marinara 

Created to pair with the “Fries Around the World” menu, the “Handshakes from Across the Globe” beer and shot combos will range in price from $10 to $12 and will include the following: 

  • Chicago Handshake: an Old Style tall boy and Malort shot
  • Hamburg Handshake: Bitburger Pils pint and Rumple Minze shot
  • Dublin Handshake: Guinness Irish Stout pint and Proper 12 Irish Whiskey shot
  • Jalisco Handshake: a Modelo pint and Gran Centenario Tequila shot
  • Halifax Handshake: a Labatt Blue tall boy and Pendleton Whiskey shot
  • Sicilian Handshake: a Peroni pint and Limoncello shot

Graystone will broadcast the opening ceremonies on Friday, July 26, and the Olympic games will be shown on 16 TVs with sound on throughout the bar including six TVs in the weatherproofed outdoor beer garden.
