National Burger Month in May is Quite Fitting

By mid-May, Chicagoans are in desperate want of warmer weather, and with that, comes barbecue and picnic food cravings, which only makes it fitting that May is National Burger Month. We've rounded up some of our favorite burgers in Chicago along with some juicy deals to sink your teeth into.

Carmine's Celebrates Burger Month

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31
• $12 Rosebud Burger

Guests looking to celebrate National Burger Month this May can try Carmine's (1043 N. Rush) famous Rosebud Burger featuring a 12-ounce beef patty, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle on brioche (add cheese $2). The Rosebud Burger is $12 and available at lunch only.

Burger Month at Commonwealth Tavern

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31
• $15 Off-Menu Burger

Commonwealth Tavern (2000 W. Roscoe) will celebrate National Burger Month by featuring their Off-Menu Burger created by Chef Donny Farrell. The burger is ground in-house and contains 70 percent brisket, 30 percent bacon, tavern sauce, bread and butter pickles, and fried onions, served on a New England Bun.

Frontier Celebrates Burger Month

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31
• $13 to $17 burger specials

Guests can celebrate National Burger Month this May with Frontier's (1072 N. Milwaukee) Executive Chef Brian Jupiter's Wild Game Burger ($17) featuring a boar burger with house venison sausage, duck egg, caramelized onion, cheddar and foie gras aioli. At brunch only, guests will enjoy Chef Jupiter's "Ostrich Juicy Lucy" featuring domestic ostrich, gouda, caramelized leeks, foie gras mayo and romaine on a bun.

Burger Month at Joe Fish

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31
• $18 prime cheeseburger

Guests can celebrate National Burger Month at Joe Fish (445 N. Dearborn St.) and enjoy their signature Prime Cheeseburger with aged cheddar, smoked bacon, housemade pickles and a butter bun. The Prime Cheeseburger is available at lunch and dinner for $18.

Rotating Burgers at Kanela Breakfast Club

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31
• $12 rotating burger special

Guests are invited to get their burger month fix at any Kanela location (Lakeview, Old Town, Wicker Park) this May as they feature a rotating burger special all month long for $12.

Lottie's 81st Anniversary Burger Special

• Saturday, May 16
• 81-cent burgers from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In celebration of their 81st Anniversary this May, Lottie's (1925 W. Cortland) will feature 81-cent burgers available from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. 81-cent beers will also be available all day.

A Branded Burger at Municipal

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31

• $15 Municipal Burger

In conjunction with National Burger Month this May, Municipal (216 W. Ohio) will roll out a new burger, The Municipal Burger, which is branded with the restaurant's logo. The burger is Angus steak with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, pickled onions, fried tomatoes, avocado and garlic aioli, served on a branded bun.

Rotating Burger Specials at The Pony

• Friday, May 1 through Sunday, May 31
• $12 rotating burger specials with handcut fries

In honor of National Burger Month this May, The Pony (1638 Belmont) in Lakeview will feature rotating burger specials including the following:

• Mexican Burger
  Two 4-ounce beef patties, chihuahua cheese, jalapeño relish, carnitas, avocado, egg bun
• Hawaiian Burger
  Two 4-ounce beef patties, grilled pineapple rings, pepper jack cheese, Sriracha aioli, braised pork belly, egg bun
• Italian Burger
  Two 4-ounce beef patties, prosciutto, fried egg, mozzarella, basil aioli, egg bun
• Thai Burger
  Two 4-ounce beef patties, kimchi, cream cheese, avocado, egg bun

Rosebud on Rush Celebrates Burger Month

Guests can celebrate National Burger Month this May with the famous Rosebud Burger at Rosebud on Rush (720 N. Rush St.) featuring 12-ounces of ground sirloin, broiled and served on a pretzel bun and garnished with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles (add cheese $1). The burger is available for $12 at lunch only.

Stretch Bar & Grill Cubs Game Day Burger and Beer Special
