Mercat a la Planxa Hosts Gin and Tonic Smack Down

Mercat a la Planxa returns to host its second quarterly cocktail competition with its Gin and Tonic smackdown on May 8. Local Chicago mixologists will showcase their signature version of the classic highball-turned-Spanish staple using a variation of gins, tonics, ingredients, and garnishes. Contenders for this year’s title include Community Tavern’s Rachel Miller, Bar Biscay’s Gamble Scranton, Monnie Burke’s Lance Bowman, as well as Mercat’s very own Beverage Baron, Kai Wilson.

Sponsored by Boxer English Gin, the complimentary event is open to all guests over the age of 21. A preceding reception of seasonal tapas and Cava begins at 5:30 p.m., and the main event starting at 6:00 p.m.
