Dating back to 1945, the La Tomatina Festival takes place annually in Buñol, a small village near Valencia, Spain annually on the last Wednesday of August. Known as “The World's Biggest Food Fight,” the event brings tens of thousands of participants together in the streets to pelt each other with more than one hundred metric tons of over-ripe tomatoes.
Paying homage to the original Spanish tradition, Mercat a la Planxa’s Fiesta De La Tomatina menu will showcase an array of tomato-centric dishes including:
Heirloom tomato saladwithheirloom tomatoes, red onion, toasted pine nuts Manchego and sundried tomato vinaigrette.
Smoked Seared Fois Gras Montaditowith rye, tomato jam and cava reduction.
Red snapperwith confit tomato, tomato lemon butter sauce and dill
Tecula Meculawith marcona almond custard, stone fruit and yellow tomato jam
The Fiesta De La Tomatina menu will be available for dinner a la carte alongside the restaurant’s selection of traditional Spanish tapas from August 28 – September 2.
