Things are going "wild" for the next Hoppy Hour hosted by the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, June 11th. Advanced Cicerone Shana Solarte joins brewers from Dovetail, Empirical, Half Acre, and Keeping Together's Master Cicerone Averie Swanson for a virtual tasting.
The topic for the upcoming tasting is Wild and Spontaneously Fermented Beers with (up to) four locally-brewed examples. Averie Swanson is one of 19 Master Cicerones - only three of which are women. After three years as head brewer and partial owner of Austin's brewery, Jester King, she decided to start something new by moving to Chicago. It's here where she created Keeping Together, a project based at Half Acre's Lincoln Avenue brewery where she makes a small amount of Belgian-style beer on her own terms and with little pressure for commercial success.
Taproom visitors normally have a lot of questions about these styles, so don't miss out on the chance to learn directly from Malt Row brewers. Guests are encouraged to purchase the beers in advance to sip along. Delivery and pickup options vary by business. Featured beers include:
- Dovetail's Fraise 2020
- Empirical's Pollux Passionfruit Wild Ale
- Half Acre's In the Pines
- Keeping Together's Thoughts Without a Thinker
The Hoppy Hour is hosted on Zoom. A link will be included in confirmation emails. There's a $5 suggested donation. RSVP and find more information including beer descriptions here. RSVP's close at 3pm on Thursday 6/11.
