Marina's Cafe has introduced two new menu items for their vegetarian customers.

Guests can now order an Impossible Jibarito, made with flattened, fried green plantains instead of bread, garlic-flavored mayonnaise, and a filling that typically includes meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomato and Impossible Meat patties + Impossible Empanadas.

Marina’s Cafe is a Puerto Rican virtual restaurant located in Avondale at 3517 N Spaulding Ave, Chicago, IL 60618. 

Owners Eric Roldan and Hector LaPorte decided to make their dream a reality during the pandemic to create a cafe that offers Puerto Rican food with new Latin fusion. Marina's Cafe is available for pick up or delivery on delivery apps like Grubhub, Caviar, UberEats, and more. They also offer a catering menu that is perfect for large and small events. 

Menu highlights:

  • NEW: Impossible Jibarito - made with flattened, fried green plantains instead of bread, garlic-flavored mayonnaise, and a filling that typically includes meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomato and Impossible Meat patties. 
  • NEW: Impossible Empanadas
  • Chicken Wings (whole) - Choice of sauces :Guava BBQ, Buffalo, Mayo Ketchup, Aji Hot Sauce (Marinas Signature Sauce)
  • Tradicional Jibarito (Plantain Sandwich)  - Bistec (steak) meat sandwich made with flattened, fried green plantains instead of bread, garlic-flavored mayonnaise, and a filling that typically includes meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. A jibarito ditches bread in favor of two crispy, flattened planks of savory, fried plantains.
  • Steak Sandwich - Thinly sliced steak stewed low and slow with onions and house seasoning served on a soft crust style bread, which is pressed to ensure a beautiful crunch, with mayonnaise, cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
  • Veggie Jibarito - Marinated Portabella mushrooms served with guava butter, bread, cheese, lettuce, and tomato 
  • Veggie Sandwich - Marinated Portabella mushrooms served on a soft crust style bread, which is pressed to ensure a crunch, with guava butter, cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
  • Pork Sandwich - Slow-cooked pork sandwich made with flattened, fried green plantains instead of bread, garlic-flavored mayonnaise, and a filling that typically includes meat, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. 
  • Tripleta Sandwich - House special with slow-roasted pork, country ham, slow-cooked steak with lettuce, tomato, mayo- ketchup, and choice of cheese which is pressed to ensure a beautiful crunch
  • Chicken Sandwich - 48 hour marinated chicken thighs served on a soft crust style bread, which is pressed to ensure a crunch, with mayonnaise, cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
  • Flan - Caramel or Guava
  • Coconut Pudding - Coconut Tembleque with Mango Relish
  • Cheesecake Roll - Guava Sauce or Strawberry Sauce
