The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant is celebrating Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 13 from 5:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. with an evening of Louisiana-style eats and beats. Guests may indulge in a special Fat Tuesday menu that brings to life all the flavor of New Orleans while enjoying live music from High-Hat Second Line, a New Orleans brass and jazz band with a Chicago twist. Along with a new feature this year, a New Orleans pianist in The Blue Room. The Cajun-inspired menu will feature classic favorites including Crawfish Mac & Cheese, Cajun Fried Chicken & Tasso Jambalaya, Shrimp Po’ Boy, and the new Spicy Crawfish Boil and Cafe Du Monde Beignet Bar. Specialty cocktails include Hurricanes and Sazeracs. The overall experience is available at $59 including tax and service fee, which covers the buffet, live music, and mardi gras beads. Stan's Donuts & Coffee
Paczki Season is here and Stan's Donuts & Coffee is starting their celebration early this year. Starting January 31 through February 13, Stan's will be introducing SIX paczki flavors to their donut cases all across Chicagoland: Raspberry, Strawberry, Chocolate Pastry Cream, Pastry Cream and Cannoli, and for the first time ever a vegan offering, the Vegan Strawberries and Cream.
The Graceful Ordinary
Chef Chris Curren will be channeling Cajun & Creole flavors from the Big Easy as he and the kitchen team prepare a four course ticketed brunch feast. Hot beignets for the table with rich espresso anglaise, then dig into a classic NOLA dish for course two, eggs sardou: poached eggs over steamed and marinated artichokes, covered in creamy hollandaise sauce. The third plate will be a savory seafood étouffée over rice followed by a king cake french toast with cinnamon creme anglaise. To pair with this menu, the bar team has also crafted two exclusive cocktails. Beads and masks will be provided, and guests are encouraged to dress in their most flamboyant Mardi Gras attire. Delightful Pastries
Delightful Pastries (5927 W Lawrence Avenue in Jefferson Park) has announced their menu for Mardi Gras on Tuesday, February 13. The family-owned and operated bakery and café will begin to churn out thousands of housemade paczki per day to prepare for Fat Tuesday.
This year’s paczki menu includes Delightful Pastries’ assortment flavors such as Apricot Preserves, Raspberry Preserves, Rose Petal Jelly, Plum Butter and Custard Topped with Chocolate Fudge ($3.49 each). Gourmet flavors include Passion Fruit Jelly, German Chocolate with coconut and pecans and Espresso Chocolate Custard topped with Belgian Chocolate Ganache ($5.29 each). Paczki Day wouldn’t be complete without Delightful Pastries’ signature “Drunken Paczki.” Flavors include Vodka Vanilla Bean Custard, Whiskey Chocolate Custard and Lemon Curd with Kentucky Moonshine ($5.39 each).
Delightful Pastries offers a limited paczki menu year-round, but the 2024 Fat Tuesday menu will be available at the bakery beginning now through Fat Tuesday. The bakery will be fully-stocked on Mardi Gras/Fat Tuesday/Paczki Day, but custom orders requested for pick-up on that day must be placed by Friday, February 9.
In addition, Delightful Pastries will host the annual Paczki Class led by Bielinski on Saturday, February 10 from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees will learn how to make paczki dough, proof and fry them, as well as fill the paczki with a variety of jams, fruits, custards, chocolate and more. In addition, guests will make angel wings (chrusciki) in class. Each student will take their creations home. The cost is $85 per person and prepaid sign up is required on their website.
The Rambler Kitchen + Tap
The Rambler will celebrate Fat Tuesday on Tuesday, February 13 in their weather-proofed beer garden with a Gumbo plate with rice and corn bread ($8) and drink specials like $8 Pimms Cups, $8 Hurricanes and $8 Sazeracs. Beginning at 7 p.m, guests can participate in New Orleans-themed music trivia. Trivia will be free to join, and prizes will be awarded throughout the evening.

In celebration of National Pisco Sour Day and Mardi Gras, River North’s Tanta will be offering a King Cake (Pisco) Sour, available only during the week of February 12. In honor of NOLA’s traditional King Cake, or “Rosca de Reyes” in Peru, Tanta has created a brightly colored pisco-based cocktail where blue spirulina, turmeric, and dried pitaya (dragonfruit) are built together with a portion of the cocktail proceeds being donated to Pachacútec Culinary.

Wicker Park’s Ina Mae Tavern for a month of celebrations as they bring the Big Easy to the streets of Chicago, happening from Wednesday, January 10 through Tuesday, February 13.
