The Restaurant
Mansion on Rush is a Japanese fusion restaurant, bar, and Champagne Lounge with Latin flair. Located at 1009 N. Rush Street between Bellevue Place and Oak Street, and with 160-seats. Upon entering the world of Mansion on Rush, patrons are welcomed into an interior with global music and fare.
“We paid attention to every detail in the restaurant, from the custom millwork in the lounge to the original murals in our VIP entrance,” says Ferrari. “The high-end design details provide a style unique to Mansion on Rush, but the customization we added make it a comfortable, welcoming experience for our guests.”
Involved in every step of the process, Ferrari completely revamped the property to develop and open his dream concept in just three months. A veteran of the restaurant and hospitality industry, Ferrari has been in the business with his father, the late legendary restaurateur Luigi Ferrari-Millicardi, for nearly three decades. Mansion on Rush is Ferrari’s first project on his own, separate from anything he worked on or began with his father.
“I learned everything from my father, from the day to day operations to optimizing the guest experience,” recalls Ferrari. “I’ve brought all of that experience to Mansion on Rush and incorporated it into a concept that I’ve been dreaming about for years. There are no words to express how it feels to see it finally come to life.”
Ferrari began looking for a space to build Mansion on Rush almost five years ago. After taking over the lease from Stockton Restaurant & Lounge in February 2021, it was all-hands-on-deck to be ready for a May opening. The concept features an array of details anddesigns including gold, silver, and pearl notes throughout the restaurant, mosaic and herringbone marble tiles, seating built to custom specifications.
No corner was left untouched. The raw bar features a tambura tide stone with plush seating so diners can observe the sushi chefs at work. The ladies’ room boasts a herringbone marble tile with white gold accents and custom marble countertops. The men’s room has a masculine design with dark marble covering the space. And finally, the VIP restroom is decked out in kryptonite with platinum accents throughout.
The Menu
Spearheading the kitchen, Executive Chefs Alberto Padilla and Chris Traynor will be leading a dual kitchen set up featuring hot and cold items. Previously heading the kitchen at La Scarola for nearly 21 years, Chef Alberto oversees the hot kitchen with a menu featuring a selection of premium Wagyu cuts, small plates, and meat, seafood, and vegetarian entrées as well as desserts.
Featured items include the King Crab with spicy garlic aioli and aha nori; Chilean Sea Bass with mushroom soy dashi Gai Lan; Duck Confit with mole sauce and purple cauliflower rice; and Wild Mushroom Lo Mein with a melody of mushrooms, sake cream, and shaved truffle. Chef Chris comes to Mansion on Rush previously serving as executive chef for Pl8 in Barrington. An admirer of traditional Japanese cuisine, Chef Chris created a menu of cold items including oysters, a raw bar, and caviar that pays respect to the culture with a Latin fusion all his own.
The sushi menu features a variety of Maki, Sashimi, and Nigiri. Highlights include Diamond Back Maki –Hamachi topped with blue fin tuna on top of an avocado cream and cilantro pesto, garnished with chili and ponzu caviar; Seared A5 Maki featuring grilled asparagus and avocado served on top of sesame sauce with shaved truffles, gold leaf, and house soy; Tuna Sumiso Sashimi - blue fin tuna, avocado with dried miso, miso vinaigrette, micro sisho, and black sesame; and Oh-Toro Nigiri prepared with truffle soy, shaved truffle, and Golden Osetra Caviar.
The Raw Bar will feature a variety of west and east coast Oysters with a variety of sauce options including Latin cocktail sauce and Japanese Mignonette; Alaskan King Crab Legs by the pound with garlic aioli and wasabi cocktail sauce; Ferrari Enzo – bluefin tuna tartar topped with Emperor’s Beluga Hybrid caviar, wasabi crema, shaved truffles, and gold leaf; and more.

A custom-built DJ booth with custom gold tiles and white marble detailing the mixing station. Mansion on Rush will host DJ’s each weekend to perform their latest set, beginning at 10pm.

We’ve customized the design so the experience is the best it can be all the way down to the table height.”
