Hungry Monkey Baking, a from-scratch baking company based out of Lake Forest and baked in Chicago’s Kinzie Industrial Corridor, has announced its partnership with Jewel Food Stores. Hungry Monkey’s banana breads will be on Jewel shelves beginning late October. In addition to Jewel’s 188 locations, Hungry Monkey’s items are also available in Chicagoland at all Sunset Foods' and The Grand Food Centers in Glencoe & Winnetka locations, the Market at Boomer’s/Lake Forest College, and local delivery through Fresh Picks.

Hungry Monkey Baking was founded by by Cindy Kienzle in 2010, due in part to Cindy’s baking passion and an unfortunate layoff. It wasn’t until she lost her job, which had been heading up the Chicago Transit Authority’s Marketing and Customer Communication Department for more than a decade, that a friend suggested she sell her chocolate chip banana bread at a charity event benefitting children with learning disabilities, a cause dear to Kienzle’s heart since her daughter Lily had been diagnosed with a learning disability.

"We are beyond excited about our partnership with Jewel-Osco for many reasons. Jewel-Osco has been a part of every family meal, every celebration, and much more -- from 1961 when my mom would take me to the newly opened Rogers Park store, to the Morton Grove store we shopped in throughout the 70s -- and, for the past 17 years, Jewel Osco’s Lake Forest store. We are thrilled that this partnership will share our Signature Chocolate Chip Banana and Original Banana Breads with so many more people. I hope that many more kids will grow up with our all-natural banana bread for breakfast and as snacks," said Kienzle, Founder of Hungry Monkey Baking.

Hungry Monkey Baking Company focuses on a small product line of natural, handmade, small-batch sweets. Their current line-up includes their Signature Chocolate Chip Banana Bread, an Original Banana Bread, a Cinnamon Apple Streusel Cake, a Lemon Tea Cake with Lemon-Buttermilk Icing, a seasonal Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread – and Triple Chocolate Brownies.
