Jeni’s will open their fifth Chicago scoop shop in a 2,100 square-foot space on Clark Street at the Park at Wrigley on Thursday, April 5, 2018. Like all Jeni’s locations, the design is distinct to the
neighborhood and will include playful nods to the scoop shop’s proximity to Wrigley Field, including custom bleacher seating.
As a lifelong Cubs fan, Jeni Britton Bauer, will be celebrating a dream come true for herself and the company.
“Opening a scoop
shop in Wrigleyville is almost as good as watching the Cubs win the
World Series in 2016. I grew up in a fanatical Cubs family in Illinois
and I’m sure both my grandfathers, especially
the one who grew up in Wrigleyville, are proud from their grave,” said
Jeni, who has also created a special flavor to mark the occasion. “My
new flavor,
Popcorn! Peanuts!, tastes like the American summer in every bite and is a celebration of the flavors of the ballpark.
Popcorn! Peanuts! will be available for a limited time in all of our scoop shops beginning in April.”
To make Popcorn! Peanuts!, Jeni steeps an heirloom popcorn from Iowa directly into the cream and then folds in toffee-coated peanuts that melt into pockets of salty-sweet caramel—with the result tasting very much like inside-out caramel corn.
As Jeni’s does with every new scoop shop grand opening, they will be throwing open the doors for a celebration—serving free scoops to everyone in line from 7pm on April 5th with Jeni herself hosting.
