Chef Lee Wolen and Boka Restaurant Group are opening GG’s Chicken Shop on Tuesday, February 28 in Lakeview’s Southport Corridor at 3325 North Southport Avenue. Named after Lee’s mom, Geri - or GG to her friends - GG’s was inspired by family meals of rotisserie or fried chicken and homestyle sides.

“We started serving GG’s fried chicken sandwiches and fries for delivery and pick-up out of Boka in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. When diners started returning to restaurants, we no longer had enough room in the kitchen for both restaurants,” said Lee Wolen. “We’re really excited to bring GG’s back, alongside some new, delicious menu items.”

Guests can order via walk-up counter service or online for pick-up or delivery. A wall of rotisseries will be spinning out tender chickens, that can be purchased as a quarter, half, or whole; plus sandwiches that include a crispy fried chicken sandwich, chicken salad with dried cranberries and pickled red onion, and a chicken burger; salads, like the Grain Bowl, Kale & Brussels, and The California (leafy greens, avocado, cucumber, sunflower seeds, sesame sticks, roasted sweet potato, and cracked bulgar with a tahini miso dressing); and sides that include waffle fries, sweet elote corn, mac & cheese, broccoli slaw, and dill schmaltz smashed potatoes.

GG’s Chicken Shop will be open seven days a week from 11am to 9pm.
