Funkenhausen will introduce a shop of wine bottles to-go at their West Town restaurant. The Funkenhausen focuses on natural and biodynamic wines.

“We’ve expanded our wine list to include a new crop of natural, biodynamic and ‘funky’ offerings from up-and-coming winemakers and vineyards doing things their own way in regions we’ve always specialized in sourcing from,” says Chef Mark Steuer, Funkenhausen’s executive chef and co-owner. “I’m really proud of this new direction for the list, and we’re thrilled with how the neighborhood has responded, as well. Extending our offerings “to-go” with an in-house wine ‘shop’ is a logical next step, and one we’re excited and happy to offer to our guests.”

In celebration of this launch, Funkenhausen has teamed up with Pilsen-based wine club Bummer Wines. Visitors can taste from a list of nine wines chosen by Chef Mark Steuer and Bummer Wines partners David Rodriguez and Victor Sanchez. Guests will have the opportunity to meet with the Bummer Wines founders and purchase bottles or a glass pour from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on April 16.

“We love the environment that Funkenhausen curates, but also we’re stoked that the wine program is exploring so many of our favorite natural wines that beautifully complement Funk’s dishes,” says Bummer Wines co-founder, Victor Sanchez. “The Funk family has treated us with so much hospitality and sincerity throughout this whole process, it’s been one of our favorite collaborations to date.”

Bummer Wine subscribers will have the opportunity to pick up their monthly wine bottles at the pickup window at All Together Now, a short distance from Funkenhausen. All subscribers are also invited to attend the Funkenhausen event on April 16 following pickup.
