After 10 years in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, Elizabeth's last night of service will be on Thursday, December 22. In January, the Michelin-starred restaurant will be replaced with Atelier, a tasting menu-focused, fine dining establishment. The name Atelier, which is an artist's studio or workshop, lends a nod to proprietor Tim Lacey's previous position at Trio Atelier in Evanston. Atelier's formal opening date, chef announcement and tasting menu will be shared as plans are finalized.

A native of Massachusetts, Lacey has spent most of his life working in restaurants, starting with his first job scooping ice cream. After graduating college with a degree in theater, Lacey briefly moved to Seattle, and then to Chicago, where he has resided for over 20 years. In 2004, restaurateur Henry Adaniya hired Lacey as bartender at Trio in Evanston. Lacey went on to oversee the bar program for Shawn McClain’s restaurants (Spring, Custom House and Green Zebra) and later at one of Chicago’s first craft cocktail bars, The Drawing Room.

Lacey was hired to manage Kitsune in 2017, which reunited him with Chef Iliana Regan, whom he first met while working at Trio. When Kitsune closed, he joined the team at Elizabeth Restaurant. In 2020, Chef Regan made the decision to step back from the restaurant, whereupon Lacey took ownership, continuing Regan's legacy of farming and foraging ingredients from each season.

Elizabeth Restaurant will be open Tuesday through Saturday through December 22, with seatings from 5:30-9 p.m.
