Edie’s All Day Café & Bar (Edie’s), a fast-casual café and bar located in the Wells corridor of Chicago’s River North neighborhood, officially opens this week, catering to individuals on-the-go, remote workers and professionals looking for a community space to work, relax and gather from breakfast through dinner. Founded by hospitality veterans Matt Matros, Arturo Gomez, and partner, Chef Chris Dunstatter, Edie’s is a designated space between work and home – a new wave in hospitality deeming itself as part café, part restaurant, workspace, community center, and part wine bar.

Inspired by Italian bistros and Australian all-day café culture, Edie’s is a spot where guests can explore food and beverage inspired by different parts of the world. Edie’s replaces the LIMITLESS Coffee space, which was founded by Matt Matros. “When looking to re-concept LIMITLESS Coffee, I reached out to Arturo and we created Edie’s to bridge the gap between home and work for professionals and individuals on-the-go.” Matros is no stranger to the upscale quick service industry, as he founded other quick service brands: PROTEIN BAR & KITCHEN and LIMITLESS Coffee. Matros most recently sold his caffeinated sparkling water line, LIMITLESS, to Keurig Dr Pepper early this year, prompting the re-concepting of the LIMITLESS Coffee space to become Edie’s All Day Café & Bar.

Co-founder Arturo Gomez, a hospitality veteran in Chicago, co-founded Chicago restaurants and nightclubs, as well as launched Big Game Air – a gameday travel experience company in 2017 – says, “While the drive of the concept is to be an all-day home for neighborhood residents, workers and professionals looking for coffee, drinks, bites, and to wind down at the end of the day, community is at the heart of Edie’s; as we’ve gone to great lengths to create an aesthetically fun, functional, gathering hub where people can connect and congregate for meetings, coffee dates, study sessions, happy hour, post-yoga hangs and more. It’s an inviting space where guests are encouraged to get comfortable, socialize, and share experiences.”

Led by Chef Chris Dunstatter, formerly of 694 Wine & Spirits, which offered a charcuterie and wine programs, Edie’s food menu is filled with when possible, locally-sourced ingredients, to create globally-inspired, approachable dishes for breakfast through dinner. Guests will be offered signature dishes like Honey Ricotta Toast, Strawberry Caprese Salad, and the Trufflicious Flatbread, along with other items like avocado toast, savory charcuterie plates, sandwiches, and salads. “We created Edie’s menu to appeal to every taste and lifestyle, with fresh, quality ingredients,” says Dunstatter.

Edie’s drink menu features a full-service coffee bar, as well as beer, wine and spirits. The cocktail menu features classic cocktails, as well as some drinks with twists, however, Edie’s wine program offers an approachable wine list.  Edie’s also offers grab-and-go options, such as coffee, juice, beer, wine and cocktails, as well as pre-made gourmet “picnic kits,’’ charcuterie boards, made-ahead sandwiches, salads and sides.

While the food and drink programs and community are core pieces of Edie’s DNA, the café and bar’s atmosphere offers guests into a modern, Bohemian-influenced bright space, surrounded by a mix of decor and patterns. Along with natural materials, like rich woods and lush greenery, the café and bar features a “green trellis”, which hangs from the ceiling and cascades down over the bar area. Edie’s also houses a variety of seating options – from traditional low tables, to family-style hightops, to couches and lounge chairs. The all-day-café and bar has a seasonal patio, which loops around the corner of Huron and Wells Street, where guests can, drink and work from.

Edie’s All Day Café is located at 675 N. Wells Street and will be open seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Breakfast is served Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; lunch is available from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; and the full bar and lite dinner fare is available from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the café is open from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with brunch being served between 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The café and bar is cashless, and accepts all major credit cards.
