This January, Eataly will launch a new pop-up experience: ALPINA. Named after the landscape of the Italian Alps, this limited-time-only experience will run through March 2025.

With a design inspired by the baita, or mountain cabins, that can be found scattered across the Alps, ALPINA will transport guests with its event programming, hands-on classes and workshops, Alpine cuisine, warming cocktails, happy hour offers, and more.

Showcasing the food and beverage traditions of Italy’s most Northern regions, the ALPINA menu features mountain cuisine that is influenced by neighboring Alpine countries. Options include:

  • Polenta Bar: A staple of Northern Italy, this creamy, stone-ground cornmeal is served on a wooden board with a choice of: Rag di Carne, Ragù di Funghi, Salsicce e Funghi, Short Ribs Ragù, or Goulash.

  • Fonduta di Formaggio: An Italian twist on Swiss fondue, this antipasto is made of Fontina DOP cheese and is served with focaccia croutons for dipping.

  • Patate all’Ampezzana: These sauteed potatoes make for a typical side dish in the Alps – topped with crispy speck (a cured, slightly smoky ham similar to prosciutto), rosemary, and chives.

  • Canederli: Closely related to bread dumplings of Germany, these bread and speck gnocchi from the region of Trentino-Alto Adige are served with Urbani Winter Black Truffle.

  • Cotoletta Alla Valdostana: Originating from the region of Valle d’Aosta, this version of a breaded chicken cutlet is stuffed with Mila Alta Badia, Prosciutto Cotto, and sauteed spinach.

  • Fonduta di Cioccolato: A dessert made for two, this warm chocolate fondue is served with fresh strawberries and biscotti.

The seasonal beverage menu includes a selection of wines from Italy’s Northern regions, plus cocktails meant to warm customers up from the winter cold, from hot toddies to the Bombardino, an Italian eggnog drink. For those participating in Dry January and beyond, “zero heroes” will also be available.

Throughout the season, ALPINA at Eataly will host events that bring the mountainside to the city, including:

Chicago – Vino &...

  • Après Ski Nights: Weekly DJ nights with a special group dining offer available, starting from Friday, January 17

  • Winter Festa: A tasting event with 10+ Alpine-inspired stations and complimentary tarot card readings on Saturday, January 18
