This Earth Day, Chicagoans can support powerful environmental while toasting to a greener planet. From tree-planting drink specials to a pollinator-friendly cocktail and a sustainable wines tasting, bars and restaurants across Chicago are stepping up with ways to celebrate Earth Day on Tuesday, April 22. Whether you’re raising a glass at a Four Entertainment Group (4EG) bar in your neighborhood, sipping for a cause at The Grillroom, or exploring organic pours at Uvae Kitchen & Wine Bar, each event offers a reason to get out and give back—one drink at a time.

“Raise a Glass, Plant a Tree” Fundraiser on Earth Day
4EG’s seven Chicago locations will participate in a “Raise a Glass, Plant a Tree” initiative in which they will team up with Plant With Purpose. For every drink purchased on Earth Day, a tree will be planted. Locations include aliveOne in Lincoln Park, Central Park Bar in Avondale, Easy Bar and Estelle’s in Wicker Park, Remedy in Bucktown, The Getaway in Lincoln Square and The Owl in Logan Square.

Plant With Purpose, a Christian nonprofit organization, reverses deforestation and poverty around the world by transforming the lives of the rural poor. They do this through watershed restoration and regenerative agriculture, savings groups and economic resilience, tree planting, growing and agroforestry, climate mitigation and carbon sequestration, as well as education and advocacy.

Earth Day Fundraiser and “Sips That Give” Kickoff at The Grillroom
In celebration of Earth Day, on Tuesday, April 22, The Grillroom Chophouse & Wine Bar in Chicago's Loop is launching “Sips That Give”, a new give-back initiative supporting local earth-friendly organizations. As part of the program, each month The Grillroom will donate 10-percent of proceeds from every featured “Sips that Give,” cocktail sold to environmental causes.

Specifically for Earth Day, The Grillroom has crafted the “Bee Line”, a pollinator-friendly floral gin sour. It features Barr Hill Gin–distilled in Vermont and enriched with raw honey from Northeast bees that forage on wildflowers–as well as fresh lemon juice, lavender bitters, organic local honey sourced from the pollinator-friendly Irie Farm in Illinois, and is garnished with an edible flower. Priced at $14, this cocktail not only highlights sustainable ingredients but also supports a cause. On April 22 only, The Grillroom will double the donation, contributing 20-percent of proceeds for every Bee Line cocktail sold to Bee Haven, an organization dedicated to creating and preserving pollinator habitats in the Greater Chicago area.

Additionally, beginning on Earth Day and through May 1, guests who order the Bee Line in the bar area will receive a packet of native wildflower seeds to plant at home, helping to promote urban pollination and support Chicago’s ecosystem.

Bee Haven is an environmental and conservation-forward Nonprofit (501c3) organization based in the greater Chicagoland area. They are focused on creating, preserving and restoring native pollinator habitats for bees, butterflies, bats, and birds.
