Coda di Volpe, a Southern Italian restaurant in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood (3335 N. Southport Ave.) has introduced a new initiative titled "Pizza & Pasta with Purpose." The series features monthly collaborations between Coda di Volpe’s Executive Chef Jacob Saben or Head Pizzaiolo Sal Lo Cascio and guest chefs, with proceeds from each dish benefiting charitable causes.
In September, the restaurant is partnering with Chef Stephanie Izard to launch the "This Little Piggy Pizza." Inspired by Chef Izard’s breakfast sandwich from her Lakeview restaurant, Little Goat Diner, the Neapolitan-style pizza is cooked in a wood-fired oven at 900°F and features Szechuan Sausage, Pickled Peppers, Fior di Latte, Cheddar Cheese, and a blend of spices. The pizza is served with traditional pizza shears for table-side cutting. Proceeds from this dish will benefit Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
Following September, the series will continue with:
October: Chef Leigh Omilinsky of Daisies will collaborate with Executive Chef Jacob Saben to create a pasta dish.
November: Chef John Manion of El Che and Brasero will collaborate with Head Pizzaiolo Sal Lo Cascio to create a new pizza.
The "This Little Piggy Pizza" is available from September 3rd to 30th for dine-in, carryout, and delivery.
