Chicago is hosting the first annual international tea festival this weekend, November 1-3, 2019, at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza located in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. This event welcomes both food and beverage industry professionals as well as the avid tea lovers. The three-day event will gather tea connoisseurs to learn about tea, tea preparation, tea culture and history, and provide the opportunity to sample and shop from a selection of global teas.
More than forty speakers will participate in more than a hundred classes and special events throughout the weekend. Industry Day, on Friday, November 1st, will focus on industry attendees, beginning with a breakfast with the Rock Stars of Tea and followed by various workshops and classes. The day’s festivities will end with a Cocktail Reception.
Saturday and Sunday, November 2nd and 3rd, tasting cafes, food and tea pairings, ceremonies and cultural experiences, and introductory level courses will be offered. Festival goers can participate in a Passport to Tea self-guided tasting tour and vote for their favorite. The weekend’s activities will end with an Afternoon Tea Buffet hosted by Lorna Reeves, editor of Tea Time Magazine.
