As the Fulton Market neighborhood awaits the official grand opening of Good Ambler, Chef McCormick is creating items like hand-crafted assortments of individual chocolates such as Hazelnut rochers, and bon bons with flavors such as Anise Vanilla, Cajeta Caramel and Lemon Crunch. There will also be coconut truffles, housemade candy bars, large format pastries and cakes, and pastries such as Pistachio Cherry Danishes, Kouign-amann and Brioche Suisse.
DIY DESSERTS — Good Ambler is giving Chicagoans creative confectionary outlets to occupy their time at home by releasing two “Sweet Things To Look Forward To” DIY baking kits for a limited time. The kits are on sale now for $18 each and are available via Good Ambler's online ordering pages.
DIY LEMON MERINGUE PIE KIT: For the maker or baker, this easy-to-prepare kit contains 4 tart shells, lemon curd to fill the tarts and crispy almond meringues to top off each tart.
DIY SUNNY DAYS AHEAD KIT: Fun for the whole family, this kit contains 3 sun cookies, 2 butterfly cookies and 3 piping bags filled with green, black and orange icing for self-decorating.
What’s even sweeter is that all pick-up and delivery orders will include a token for a complimentary pastry, to be redeemed when doors officially open to the public, pending the lift of shelter in place in Chicago.
“We’re just so excited to show Chicago what we’ve been working on, we couldn’t wait any longer,” says Chef McCormick. "Good Ambler is all about life’s simple pleasures, and we could all use a little more of that right now. Hopefully these sneak peek treats bring some smiles across Chicago, it’s a nice preview of the joy we hope to bring when doors are allowed to open.”
The Good Ambler preview menu is available for pick-up at their soon-to-open storefront, located at 216 N Peoria Street and for delivery via Caviar and DoorDash.
