The Graceful Ordinary
This Valentine’s Day, the riverside restaurant in St. Charles is gearing up to celebrate the season of love. Executive Chef Chris Curren and the team will offer specials featuring grilled Oysters Rockefeller topped with creamed spinach and herbed breadcrumbs, Lobster Tortellini with butter poached lobster and salmon roe, and a Tomahawk Ribeye for Two, served with creamed spinach, au gratin potatoes and spicy horseradish cream sauce.

The entire experience is set to live jazz music from Chicago vocalist, Myles Hayes. Bar Pendry’s boozy tea service includes your choice of one tea plus a tea tower, packed with sweet and savory bites like the Smoked Sherry Onion Jam Bouche topped with crispy prosciutto, an indulgent S’mores Macaron, made with toasted marshmallow and chocolate. Patrons can also sample from the bar’s selection of a la carte tea cocktails, such as the Sunday Morning Sour, an earl-grey infused sipper made with Gentleman Jack whiskey, coconut milk and a soft egg white foam, or the nonalcoholic You’ve Met Your Matcha, crafted with Seedlip Grove #42 infused with Rare Tea Cellar’s Sweet Seoul Matcha and Mallorca Melon Shrubbery blends.
Outside of boozy tea, guests will be able to select exclusive dining specials crafted just for the holiday, and on 2/14, a complimentary treat from the chef team. Alongside the cocktail menu, patrons will find a selection of sparkling and vintage bottles.
Dove's Luncheonette
For the whiskey-loving couple, an early Valentine’s Day celebration on February 8th at Dove’s Luncheonette where a special evening centered around Pappy Van Winkle whiskey awaits. Featuring exclusive pours of the Pappy selection paired with chef-inspired dishes, five courses from a Buttermilk Biscuit opener with pimento cheese and pepper jelly to the fourth-course: a Whole Suckling Pig from Slagel Farms, stuffed with cajun boudin and served with golden berry salsa, charred corn relish, pickled cucumbers and PQB bread. Reservations are available on Friday and Saturdays with seatings at 5pm, 7:30pm, and 10pm at $100/person for those celebrating V-Day the weekend before or after the mid-week holiday. If you’re planning to swing by for a night cap on Valentine’s Day itself - look out for a handful of specialty cocktails like the "Rabu Rabu”, meaning lovey-dovey in Japanese, which pairs Awai 45 Japanese Whiskey with Mugi Hoku Barley Sochu, orange, black walnut, and lemon for a complex take on an Old Fashioned.
Daisies
Daisiesis teaming up with a Chicago chocolatier for the newest installment of their Crossover Croissant series. Executive Pastry Chef Leigh Omilinsky and Meg Galus of Good Ambler are doling out a chocolate croissant in time for Valentine’s Day. Aptly named The Chocolate Bar Croissant,the latest Crossover Croissant is a throwback tribute from when Omilinsky and Galus worked together at TRU back in 2007. Available for a limited time only (February 10-18).
On Valentine's Day, Daisies will also have a shareable four-course, prix-fixe dinner filled with Chef Joe Frillman’s signature vegetable-focused pasta dishes. Couples can settle into Daisies' dining room while digging into an appetizer platter with dishes like Smoked Sturgeon Rillette and Butter Poached Turnip Tart. For the main courses, couples can choose two pasta dishes and two entrees to share such as the Pappardelle with beef cheek sugo, Tajarin with lobster amatriciana, Grilled Trout with sunchokes and more. Round it all out with one of Chef Leigh Omilinsky’s signature desserts. And of course, it wouldn’t be Valentine’s Day without a little vino, so wine pairings are also available.

Just opened last month in the former Brass Heart space, Cariño takes you on a culinary journey through some of Latin America’s flavors from the comfort of their green and velvet-clad space. Opt for the 12-14 course tasting menu in the dining room or give your sweetheart a front row seat to the action with a 14-16 course tasting menu at the chef’s counter. Look out for menu options like the aguachile with white soy-cured Ora King salmon and kanpachi from Baja California, served in an aromatic cloud of jalapeño and serrano chili vapor and optional wine pairings selected by sommelier Richie Ribando.

On Wednesday, February 14, Tanta will be offering a Valentine’s Day prix fixe menu for $86 per person. Featuring four courses, guests will have the opportunity to partake in Peruvian dishes such as sliced petite striploin served with beet gnocchi and pesto, seared salmon with clams and squid, cebiche, crispy pork belly, lobster and shrimp salad, gulf shrimp, and chocolate cake. Vegetarian options will also be available for each course in addition to a limited à la carte dinner menu available at the bar.
Tanta will also be offering a Valentine’s Day-inspired cocktail, Pisco Sour Catedral (not included with prix fixe menu pricing). Daisies is teaming up with a Chicago chocolatier for the newest installment of their Crossover Croissant series. Executive Pastry Chef Leigh Omilinsky and Meg Galus of Good Ambler are doling out a chocolate croissant in time for Valentine’s Day. Aptly named The Chocolate Bar Croissant, the latest Crossover Croissant is a throwback tribute from when Omilinsky and Galus worked together at TRU back in 2007. Available for a limited time only (February 10-18).
On Valentine's Day, Daisies will also have a shareable four-course, prix-fixe dinner filled with Chef Joe Frillman’s signature vegetable-focused pasta dishes. Couples can settle into Daisies' dining room while digging into an appetizer platter with dishes like Smoked Sturgeon Rillette and Butter Poached Turnip Tart. For the main courses, couples can choose two pasta dishes and two entrees to share such as the Pappardelle with beef cheek sugo, Tajarin with lobster amatriciana, Grilled Trout with sunchokes and more. Malört is working on a new flavor for February. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the February Malört flavor will be Valentine Malört, a chocolate rose flavor. Like the others, it will be available at CH Bar & Table during the month of February. Bottles (375ml) will be priced at $75 and will come with their very own cheeky Malört-themed valentine so you can gift them to people you “love” (or the ones you pretend to). As with past flavors, Valentine Malört will also be available by the shot ($8).
This month’s charity will be AIDS/LifeCycle, a ride that takes place annually through the California countryside (from San Francisco to LA) and raises funds for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and The Los Angeles LGBT Center.

For dinner service on February 14, Executive Chef Aaron Cuschieri is serving up three specials meant for sharing between loved ones. A Canadian Lobster and Winter Truffle Risotto with cherry tomato, poached lobster, shaved winter black truffle and watercress, a Maryland Blue Crab “scotch egg”, a soft boiled egg wrapped in Maryland style crab cake, or the Ox Heart & Beet Salad made with marinated ox heart, red and golden beets and a red wine-mustard dressing. He’s also cooking up a Hibiscus Panna Cotta with dried cherries and litchi noir, or diners can choose a Seafood Platter with poached lobster, stuffed clams, scallop crudo and more. Rose Mary is offering a pre-fixe menu for two this Valentine’s Day from Chef Joe Flamm. For $105 per person, each table of two will be offered the Tuna Crudo with veal aioli and Grilled Oysters to start, followed by the Mezzaluna with duck ragu and the Mushroom risotto with the addition of black truffle. As a main course, couples will share the Lamb Saddle served with Roasted Baby Carrots and a shallot vinaigrette as well as the Sweet Potato with a prosciutto vinaigrette. Created by Chef Chris Teixeria, these at-home cake mixes take the hassle out of baking a cake from scratch, each box contains everything you need for a quick and easy baking process.
