On Monday, March 20 from 5-8 pm, the Chicago culinary community will step up in a grassroots effort to raise funds at a chef-curated tasting event at Avli on the Park. Funds raised from “Chicago Chefs Cook for Earthquake Relief” will be sent to World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that arrives first to the frontlines, providing communities with fresh, nourishing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.

The fundraiser will feature tasting stations from participating chefs including Nikolaos Kapernaros and Panos Chalikiopoulos (Avli), Joe Rizza (LYRA), Soo Ahn (Adalina), Joe Flamm (Rose Mary), Art Smith (Reunion), Sarah Stegner (Prairie Grass Cafe), Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno), Devon Quinn (Eden), and more.

“When seeing the latest global devastation on the news, I knew I wanted to step up to rally together the Chicagoland chef community for a way to give back,” said Avli on the Park Executive Chef Nikolaos Kapernaros. “The Chicago Chefs Cook team has done amazing work with previous charity events. We cannot wait to announce the lineup of incredible chefs for this special evening, and are proud to provide support for those affected by this crisis.”

In the coming weeks, the team will release a full roster of participating chefs and sponsors who will give their time and resources for this effort.

“This tragedy is a call to action for the Chicagoland Chef community and we are standing together in support of the countless people affected by the devastating earthquakes,” said Sarah Stegner, co-owner and co-chef of Prairie Grass Cafe, who also serves as a WCK Chef Corps member. “This is our fourth Chicago Chefs Cook event—we know we are stronger by working together and can make a difference in the world.”

In addition to the chef-curated tasting event, the evening will feature a VIP meet and greet chef experience, from 5 to 6pm.
