With new hours, menus, programming and a new sidewalk patio, Celeste, the cocktail bar and restaurant from Bonhomme Hospitality Group housed in a multi-story Louis Sullivan building, is reopen.
“Traveling isn’t a luxury we currently have,” says Daniel Alonso, co-founder and managing partner of Bonhomme Hospitality Group. “But we still have the luxury of dining out and enjoying ourselves in our own backyard. Reopening Celeste was something we wanted to do in order to fulfill the desire of new experiences right here in Chicago.”
Open Wednesday through Sunday, Celeste offers an interpretation of the classic American drinking establishment. Originally built in 1888 as a glass factory by Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler, the building has a vintage glow that harkens back to Hubbard Street’s industrial roots.
At Celeste, guests can order crafted cocktails - new offerings include the herbaceous Skipped Service (blanco tequila, grapefruit, herbal liqueur, gentian, pink salt) and the Still A Rose (gin, rhubarb, aperol, rose flower water, lemon and soda). Looking for something a little different? Sealed With a Twist combines butterfly pea tea-infused gin with raspberries, dry curacao, Cocchi Rose, lemon and, for an added twist, absinthe.
On the food side, Chef Jose Melo’s new menu provides offerings from Truffles Fries with garlic aioli and a Tahini Hummus spread wth herb pesto, herb salad, paprika and pita to Celeste’s Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and Steak Frites with truffle butter. A gourmet Picnic Basket makes ordering for the table easy with delectable dishes such as Scallop Mango Ceviche, Avocado Tuna Tartare, Crab Cake and Shrimp Tacos.
Earlier opening hours — 4 p.m. Wednesday to Friday and 2 p.m. on weekends.
The Pub on the first floor and the new six-table sidewalk patio will be open to the public Wednesday through Sunday with the following hours: Wednesday to Friday 4 p.m. to midnight; Saturday 2 p.m. to midnight; and Sunday 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Celeste’s Roof Garden will be open at 4 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for the general public. On Saturday and Sunday, it is open specifically for Summer Music Series ticket holders. The second-floor Deco Room, reminiscent of a 1920s supper club, is available for private events.
SUMMER MUSIC SERIES
Before opening with regular hours, Celeste began its weekend Summer Music Series in August, a curated weekend-only event that includes a 3-hour open bar, picnic basket filled with dishes and live music entertainment from DJs.
The ongoing series takes place Saturdays and Sundays on Celeste’s rooftop garden. On Saturdays, spend the afternoon in a place that feels like Tulum at the Mayan Jungle show. Sunday the rooftop transforms into Oasis with music inspired by a different international locale.
Each Summer Music Series guest receives the VIP treatment as tickets include a three-hour experience with open bar and gourmet picnic baskets in a private lounge for up to 6 guests ($88 per person, minimum of 4 tickets). Tickets to the all-inclusive, live music event can be purchased at CelesteChicago.com.
