Celebrate Chicago's 185th Birthday at Local Hotspots on March 4th

With our favorite city turning *185* on March 4th, local hotspots are planning their own festive celebrations to honor the place they call home.

Bar Pendry

Celebrate the city’s birthday with a combo of Chicago favorites at Bar Pendry, located inside Chicago’s landmark Carbide & Carbon which now plays home to the Pendry Hotel. To honor the Windy City, Bar Pendry has prepared a gourmet Chicago-style hot dog with truffle aioli, pickled green tomato relish and mustard seeds, and micro celery wrapped up in Japanese milk bread. To accompany this classic dish, Bar Pendry will also be serving their take on a signature Chicago cocktail, the Old Fashioned. Reimagined and aptly named Cloud Gate, the drink includes rye, orange, angostura bitters, and a whisper of hickory smoke for a savory finish.

The Whistler

Logan Square’s craft cocktail hub and music venue is serving up liquid dessert for Chicago’s 185th Birthday. Shaken up by three-time James Beard Award nominee Head Bartender Alex Barbatsis, the imaginative “It’s My Party” starts with a punchy base of Old Tom Gin and Amaro before bringing the festivity with tangy pineapple, liquid cheesecake, and a garnish of the Chicago flag’s red stars to create a cocktail worth celebrating. Guests will also be provided tunes all night long with Geoff Farina performing hits from the 40s/50s on electric guitar starting at 7pm, and Westonworld's exploration of vinyl spanning new wave, old punk, indie dance and more kicking off at 9:30pm.
