River North sports bar and eatery, Bull & Bear, is bringing back its annual "Dog Days of Summer" starting Monday, July 18, and running through Sunday, July 24.
Summer in Chicago is notably the best time of the year to both locals and visitors alike. The city comes alive and baseball season is at the tip of its peak; therefore, it only seems fitting that Bull & Bear dedicates a weeklong celebration to the food that plays second fiddle to the summer burger, hot dogs. Leading up to National Hot Dog Day, observed on July 23, DineAmic Group Corporate Chef Jeremy Tannehill will be creating five one-of- a-kind dogs, each featured on a different day of the week. Plus, Chicago's classic dog, the Chicago Style Wrigley Dog, will be hand-curated by Chef Tannehill and available every day throughout the promotion.
Chef Tannehill's inspiration for the menu praises a unique take on signature hot dogs from major league ballparks around the United States. Fans of the food will get a taste of five different stadium dogs, each customized with the parks notable fixin's, from all around the U.S. in Chicago.
The ballpark dogs, $9 each, will be available for lunch and dinner and will be accompanied by
housemade potato chips.
Monday, July 18
Atlanta Braves Dog | Turner Field
Fried hot dog, barbecue sauce, pulled pork, coleslaw, pickles
Grilled brat, sauerkraut, fried onion strings, brown mustard
As if five ballpark dogs weren't enough, Bull & Bear will also be offering the "Chicago Style Home Wrecker"; a challenge fit for any hot dog enthusiast. With two Chicago Style foot long side-by- side, these kosher dogs are both topped with mustard, relish, onion, tomato, sports peppers, celery salt, served in a potato bun and accompanied by housemade chips. Those brave enough to complete the challenge will receive the footlong on the house, as well as walk away with a "Homewrecker Champion" t-shirt
