Brasserie by LM, the Michelin Guide recommended traditional French Brasserie located in the South Loop, will close temporarily for business after service on Sunday, March 20, 2016. This is prompted by the planned renovation and repositioning of Chicago’s famous Essex Inn as well as the development of the 55 story Essex Tower residential building next door, both in the 800 S. Michigan Avenue block. The extended hiatus is expected to last between 24 and 30 months.
Brasserie will serve brunch from 10am-2pm on Sunday, March 20 and will offer an all day special of $1 draft beers, valid while supplies last. The restaurant will close following dinner service.
The new Brasserie by LM will be located at the base of the mixed-use Essex Hotel and Tower project and is expected to open in the summer of 2018. Construction on the residential tower, developed by a joint venture of Oxford Capital Group, LLC and Quadrum Global, is expected to commence in July of 2016.
“As business owners it’s been very exciting to watch the South Loop neighborhood develop over the past several years, not to mention see the exciting plans for the future,” said Brasserie owners Nicole and Stephan Outrequin Quaisser, “We look forward to continuing to serve this vibrant and growing community in 2018 and beyond.”
Plans for the new Brasserie are still under development however diners should expect to see many of the classic French favorites Brasserie was known for make a return to the menu.
“We’ve enjoyed a great relationship with Nicole, Stephan and their entire team over the years at The Essex and other properties,” said John Rutledge, Founder, President & CEO of Oxford, “we are excited that we’ve reached an agreement for them to be an integral component of our new Essex Hotel and Tower project.”
The new Brasserie by LM is expected to seat approximately 120 inside as well as 60 on a sidewalk café along Michigan Avenue. Brasserie will continue to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily as well as weekend brunch.
