Next month, Brasero will host the sixth annual ‘Pausing For The Cause’ collaboration dinner with Maxwells Trading to benefit Vibrant Emotional Health (Vibrant) on Monday, September 30th. Executive Chef and Owner Chef John Manion and Chef De Cuisine Adam Meyer of Brasero will be joined by Chef Erling Wu-Bower and Chef Chris Jung of Maxwells Trading for the ticketed event. All proceeds raised during the evening will go directly to suicide prevention initiatives at Vibrant Emotional Health.

“Rebecca Friedlander has been an invaluable partner in our ongoing efforts to raise awareness of the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Suicide is an urgent and growing public health crisis in America, with more than 49,000 lives lost in 2022 alone—one death every 11 minutes. As the administrator of the 988 Lifeline, we have answered more than 10 million calls, texts, and chats over the past two years, working tirelessly to ensure that everyone knows care and support are available whenever and wherever they need it,” said Dr. Tia Dole, Chief 988 Lifeline Officer of Vibrant Emotional Health. “The Chicago community behind Pausing for the Cause is a part of this! Rebecca and all the chefs, sommeliers, staff, and guests who have been a part of Pausing for the Cause from the beginning are using your skills and passion to support our mission. This community exemplifies how it truly takes all of us to tackle the mental health crisis in America. Their dedication is helping save lives, and we are deeply grateful for their continued collaboration.”

The Brasero and Maxwells Trading teams join this year to raise money and awareness for this cause. A selection of local sommeliers will also be in attendance to assist with wine service. Doors will open at 6:00 pm, and dinner will begin shortly after at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $500 per person and proceeds will be donated to Vibrant Emotional Health.

Guests can bring bottles of wine to partake in with dinner. All proceeds from the pay-what-you-want corkage fees will also be donated to Vibrant Emotional Health. A wine and cocktail list will also be available. Guests can also participate in a silent auction and win items such as large format wine bottles, rare spirits and dinners / experiences with chefs across Chicago.

Last fall’s event raised more than $50,000 for Vibrant Emotional Health, the administrator of the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. Vibrant Emotional Health is behind the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and helps people achieve mental and emotional well-being with dignity and respect. Vibrant Emotional Health’s solutions have delivered services and support, when, where, and how people need it for 55 years.
