Black Out Wednesday

aliveOne in Lincoln Park will host a “Blackout Wednesday” FREE live music event at 9 p.m. on November 27 in their “secret” back room. aliveOne resident band Bonzo Squad will play a jazz funk fusion set. Chicagoans can kick off the night early with a half-price everything happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Drink specials available all evening will include $8 craft cocktails and $6 Half Acre brews.

  • Bodega Taqueria y Tequila

Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, with locations in West Loop and River North is set to host Blackout Wednesday celebrations on Nov. 27 kicking off Thanksgiving weekend. Both locations will feature music, drinks, and late-night bites. West Loop will be open from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. where DJ Metro will take the stage, as guests enjoy Bodega’s tacos and tequila. The River North location will be open from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with Sounds by MACH setting the vibe. Reservations are recommended.

  • Bordel

In honor of 10 years, Bordel has been celebrating all November! The celebrations will come to a close on November 27th with 'Speakeasy', a weekly Wednesday jazz residency from 11PM-12:30AM featuring $5 daiquiris from 10PM-11PM. 

  • Central Park Bar

Starting at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, Emo Night will kick off with a DJ spinning emo music classics, and themed drink specials will be available along with $9 beer and shot combos. Guests can also kick off the evening early with a half-price happy hour from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. 

Central Park Bar’s outdoor bar is now enclosed and weather-proofed for the season featuring overhead heaters as well as three 55-inch TVs and a bumper pool table, so guests can play during the fall and winter seasons. Just outside of the enclosed area is a fire pit surrounded by adirondack chairs, which will be in operation (weather permitting).

  • Cody's Public House

Cody’s Public House in West Lakeview will be open at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27 for Chicagoans looking to kick off Black Wednesday and the holiday weekend early. Guests will have the chance to win Q101 Twisted Xmas concert tickets while sipping on drink specials like $5 Heineken, $5 Heineken Light, $5 Heineken Zero, $6 Wild Turkey, and $6 Proper 12 Apple. Weather permitting, guests can enjoy Cody’s beer garden featuring TVs, darts and bean bags while the indoor game room offers darts, Golden Tee, Big Buck Hunter and more. 

  • Easy Bar

Easy Bar in Wicker Park will kick off Black Wednesday with their half-price happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Patrons can keep the party going until 2 a.m. with FREE pool and additional all night specials like $4 Malort shots, $6 hard seltzers, and a $9 beer and shot combo. 

  • Estelle's

Chicagoans looking for a casual Black Wednesday spot can unwind before the busy Thanksgiving holiday at Estelle's in Wicker Park with a half-price happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. House cocktails will also be on special for $8 all night including seasonal drinks like the Cytrynowy Pie with Zubrowka Lemon Grass Vodka, Dr. McGillicuddy's Apple Pie, cinnamon bitters, lemon juice and demerara syrup with an expressed lemon peel garnish, and the Spressy Teeny, crafted with  Chicago Spirit Espresso Vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream, and chocolate walnut bitters. For late night bites, Estelle’s kitchen is open until 4 a.m. with specials like $8 Party Pockets. 

  • Lemon

Join Lemon on November 27th for live music from La Escualita. Drink specials from Fernet Branca. Doors at 7, music at 8. $10 cover. 

  • Remedy

The bar will host a Black Wednesday Happy Hour featuring half-price everything (excluding shots) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Remedy offers a menu of house and classic cocktails along with seasonal specials like the Pumpkaboo with Redemption Rye, pumpkin syrup and orange bitters, and the Ginger Forest with Dickel Bourbon, New Deal Ginger, ginger beer, and lime juice. Guests can cozy up in front of the fireplace and enjoy pre-holiday hangs until 4 a.m. 

  • The Getaway

The Getaway will host a Black Wednesday happy hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. featuring $10 house cocktails, $8 wine, $6 drafts, $4 domestics, $8 non-alcoholic cocktails, and $5 non-alcoholic bottles and cans. Patrons can pair their drinks with a Cheese Board by Chicago specialty cheese shop Beautiful Rind ($14) which will include an assortment of three cheeses, seasonal jam, cornichon pickles, and pumpkin spice pumpkin seeds. Beer and Shot combos will be available for $8 all evening. Guests are welcome to warm up near the fireplace in The Getaway’s back room.

  • The Owl

The Owl will host a late-night dance party on Black Wednesday featuring a guest DJ beginning at 11 p.m. who will lead a dance party until 4 a.m. Chicago Handshakes (Malort and Old Style) will be on special for $6 all night. Those looking for a more low-key evening before the holiday can join The Owl for their Early Bird Happy Hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring half-price on everything (excluding shots).

Black Friday

  • Buona Beef Chicagoland

On Black Friday, Buona will offer a Buy $25 in Buona gift cards (in-store or online) and receive a $5 bonus card. For Cyber Monday (12/1–12/3), guests can Buy $75 in gift cards online and enjoy a $25 bonus card. Bonus cards are redeemable from January 1 to February 8.

  • City Works Eatery & Pour House

City Works Eatery & Pour House in Vernon Hills & Schaumburg brings back the rare Bourbon County Stout for Black Friday. Guests who dine in can taste this once a year brew. The locations will serve the following variants: Vernon Hills will have Original and Vanilla Rye, Schaumburg will have Original. The complex, barrel-aged stout is only offered in a handful of locations. Guests can enjoy the notes of chocolate, vanilla, oak and whiskey while supplies last.

  • Old Town Pour House

On Black Friday, November 29, Old Town Pour House Naperville will be tapping Goose Island Bourbon County Stout at 11 a.m. Patrons can enjoy this year’s release of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Stout, along with dishes from the new Chef Selects menu and favorites from the regular menu. Additionally, from Black Friday through December 31, Old Town Pour House will be offering a  holiday gift card special; buy $100 in gift cards, get a $50 bounce back or buy $50 in gift cards, get a $20 bounce back. Bounce back offers are redeemable January - February 2025. Available at Old Town Pour House ( Chicago, Oak Brook, Naperville) in house and online.
