Ilegal Mezcal is bringing its Bar Ilegal tour on the road, this year celebrating 20 years of Cafe No Sé.
Bar Ilegal is an experiential outpost of Cafe No Sé, which was opened by Ilegal founder John Rexer. At each Bar Ilegal pop up, Ilegal Mezcal transforms venues into Café No Sé, complete with mezcal, specialty cocktails, live music and tattoo artists on-site.
The Bar Ilegal tour began at its namesake bar in Oaxaca, Mexico. Oaxaca is where all Ilegal Mezcal is crafted in small batches by fourth-generation mezcaleros, in the region’s Santiago Matatlan Valley. The party at Bar Ilegal is visiting Moneygun in Chicago on May 16th.
“Twenty or so years since it was opened, Café No Sé is still a hub for music and sharing a good time over a drink,” said John Rexer, founder of Ilegal Mezcal. “Bar Ilegal is our way of bringing that experience to anyone who believes in the connection that music and mezcal foster as much as we do.”
SUSU, the NYC-based, female-led rock and roll band, is headlining Bar Ilegal and performing at Moneygun. SUSU and Ilegal Mezcal are longtime partners, working together to cultivate community and revelry.
