Local restaurant rallies around long time restaurant veteran; Andros Taverna devotes entire night to raise money for sommelier fighting brain cancer. Bobbypalooza is a fundraiser for sommelier and wine professional, Bobby Joe Rinaldo, on Dec. 13 from 6-9pm at the Logan Square restaurant. Bobbypalooza will be a night of spontaneous mezze, Greek wines, specialty cocktails, The Olive Branch Art Show and the first-ever black truffle gyro made by the Andros team.
While regular restaurant service will be closed for the day, the event is free and open to the public, with 100% of proceeds raised through special offerings and purchased art donated to Bobby Joe’s recovery efforts. All art showcased during the Olive Branch Art Show comes from local artists that have worked alongside Bobby Joe and will be available for purchase.
Bobby Joe has been diagnosed with Grade 2 Oligodendroglioma Brain Cancer. The team at Andros hopes to raise enough funds to alleviate Bobby Joe’s financial worry while he recovers from surgery and undergoes chemotherapy.
“For us, the night is all about raising money for Bobby Joe,” said Owner and Chef Doug Psaltis, “Bobby’s been such a giver and mentor for so many young people in the restaurant and wine industry, and this is our way of giving back to our great friend.“
Anyone that believes the goodness and generosity of family, friends and their community is invited to attend. The Olive Branch Program at Andros is designed to help community members in need and will be a recurring series at Andros in the future.
Donations are being accepted now through Bobby Joe Rinaldo’s GoFundMe.
