aliveOne, in Lincoln Park, will celebrate its 25th anniversary this spring with a month-long anniversary bash centered around free live music and a fundraiser for Ukraine.
To celebrate, aliveOne will host a private, invite-only, contest winner 25th Anniversary Party on Friday, May 6 featuring a performance by Hartliss Bastids with members of Umphrey’s McGee and Jen Hartswick from the Trey Anastasio Band. Three pairs of passes to the private event will be raffled off every Thursday in April (April 4, 11, 18 and 25) during “Resident Band Night” with Chicago’s Bonzo Squad in aliveOne’s back room. The free live music is from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m, and winners will be announced between 11 p.m. and midnight. Patrons will receive a free raffle ticket at the door and must be present to win. A portion of proceeds from every Thursday in April as well as the private event on May 6 will benefit United Help Ukraine, which is providing medical aid and humanitarian relief to Ukrainians.
“aliveOne was the very first bar we opened, and it’s all thanks to the neighborhood and the music lovers out there that we’ve reached this milestone today,” said David Halpern, managing partner at Four Entertainment Group (4EG). “After an outpouring of support during our company wide fundraiser for Ukraine in March in which we raised over $4,500, we wanted to continue our efforts in April and hope our guests will help us raise even more during aliveOne’s Thursday resident band nights.”
With their name inspired by Chicago’s only 100 CD all-live recorded music jukebox, aliveOne opened in December 1996 at the corner of Schubert and Halsted. Separated into two different bar rooms, the front bar features a pool table, signature cocktails, rotating craft beers, and a Half-Price Happy Hour offered daily.
Complementing the front bar, aliveOne’s back room is where guests can see Chicago’s up and coming bands for free (never a cover), or take part in all-out weekend dance parties at the neighborhood bar. aliveOne houses a collection of commercially-released live concert bootlegs on CD and analog tape, which are displayed in cases on the walls throughout the bar along with photographs and music memorabilia spanning five decades.
