"I love that it takes you a half an hour to order a sandwich," explains Harry (Billy Crystal)to Sally (Meg Ryan) as he professes his love for her at the end of the 80's classic romantic comedy, "When Harry Met Sally".
The love story has many famous lines and scenes—many of which involve food, hence why Ada Street decided it would be the perfect inspiration for a Valentine's Day menu.
Ada Street's four course menu takes guests through the four stages of Harry and Sally's courtship, with a choice of a Harry or Sally inspired dish.
"The first time they met they hated each other": features choice of grilled prawns and smoked concord grapes (Harry) and a grilled radicchio salad with toasted pecans, goat cheese and a shallot vinaigrette (Sally).
"The second time they met he didn't remember her": Spaetzle with duck confit and Hungarian Paprikash (Harry); and hand cut papardelle with wild baby arugula, abalone mushrooms and rapini pesto (Sally).
"The third time they met they became friends": Wagyu hanger steak, pastrami spices, smoked carrot puree, rye croutons (Harry) and a poached halibut with shaved radish, sea beans. Little neck clams and saffron-bouilabaisse poured table side (Sally).
The fourth course is the sweet ending, "and then they fell in love" featuring a pecan tart with whipped crème fraiche (Harry) or warm apple pie with strawberry ice cream (or have it as a cold apple pie with whipped cream just as Sally would order it).
Eat, laugh, and love this Valentine's Day weekend at Ada Street who are offering this menu Friday, February 13th through Sunday the 15th. On Sunday night, catch the movie being screened at the restaurant. A gluten-free and vegetarian menu are also available. Email Michelle mszot@dmkrestaurants.com for reservations.
