Abt Electronics (1200 N. Milwaukee) is hosting its first-ever pizza cook-off for charity hosted by “The Food Guy” Steve Dolinsky. On July 23 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m, three chefs from Chicagoland pizza restaurants will compete for a chance to win a donation to their charity of choice on behalf of the Abt Family Foundation.
Chef Jesse Harris from Giordano’s, chef Leo Spizzirri of GIA MIA and chef/owner George Bumbaris of George’s Deep Dish will throw down the gauntlet using pizza ovens from Alfa and showcase their signature pizzas for a great cause. The judging panel comprised of local food eaters Seth Marcus (@chicityfoodie), Josh Carmichael (@siblingsthateat) and Jamila Ghosheh (@jamilaeats) will crown the winning chef, who will win a $2,000 donation towards their charity. In addition, guests are invited to vote on their favorite pizza for the “People’s Choice” and runner-up, both of whom will also receive $1,500 and $1,000 donation for their chosen cause.
The competition will be hosted outdoors at Abt’s parking lot and will be open to the public. Tickets are priced at $10. Guests will provided samples of each chef’s pizza and will also be entered into a drawing for a giveaway of the Alfa pizza oven as well a JBL Party Speaker. Alfa will also be offering the pizza oven at a discounted price for guests.
