Aarón Sánchez is heading to Chicago to Big Star Mariscos, the new, Mexican seafood inspired iteration of One Off Hospitality’s honkey-tonk, for two evenings in collaboration with Paul Kahan. Presented on Tuesday, March 7th and Wednesday, March 8th Aarón, Paul and Big Star Culinary Director Chris Miller will create a four-course dinner of collaborative coastal Mexican dishes, as well as a special dessert course by local Mexican-meets-Jewish artisanal bakery Masa Madre. Each ticket sold will have an accompanying donation to the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund whose mission is to support and uplift Latino youth through food with culinary arts education, mentoring and human services.

“I’ve had the pleasure of becoming great friends with Aarón over the years through many incredible events and dinners that we’ve both been lucky enough to be a part of,” says Kahan. “He’s truly one of my favorite people, and it’s such a treat for us to have him here in Chicago at our newest restaurant. What better way to raise money for such a fantastic cause than bringing our teams together to create this special dinner? We’re going to have a great time!”

Guests may mix and mingle with Paul, Aarón and crew while diving into dishes like BBQ oysters in adobo spices and chili butter, blue crab and red snapper ceviche, and a Pompando Zarandeado with Big Star’s signature handmade tortillas by Pilsen’s family-operated El Popocatepetl Tortillería. Each course includes an agave-based cocktail pairing designed by Beverage Director Laurent Lebec of Big Star and Global Brand Ambassador Manny Hinojosa of Tequila Cazadores. To finish off the meal, Tamar and Elena from Chicago’s own Masa Madre will present a chocolate concha filled with café con leche nata and a churro babka with vanilla ice cream.

Tickets are available on Tock for $125/person + a $25 donation per person to the Aarón Sánchez Impact Fund. Seatings begin at 4:30 p.m., with the latest at 9:30 p.m. on both nights. Full menu can be found below.
